If Buster is fitted with a microchip and he gets lost, unfortunately, he may find himself in the local animal shelter. With any luck, maybe a good samaritan will find him and bring him to the local veterinarian's office to be scanned for a microchip.
Remember, microchips do not contain owner contact information... only identification numbers. The shelter or the veterinarian will have two options after they locate Buster's microchip ID number. The first option is to identify the manufacturer of the microchip, contact that company and have that company contact you. You will eventually receive a call from that company about your missing pet. The second option is for the veterinarian or shelter to call you immediately and directly. That is why your contact information must be accessible.
